Matteo Thun the maximum expression of design

A designer famous all over the world for a harmonious design full of shapes

Matteo Thun is a famous Italian designer born in Bolzano in 1952. After studying at the Ortisei Art School and the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, he started working as a designer for Swatch. Subsequently, he collaborated with designers such as Ettore Sottsass and in 1984 he founded the Matteo Thun & Partners studio.

The notoriety

Thun is known for his eclectic approach to design and wide range of projects, including hotels, restaurants, shops, furniture and home products. Among his most famous projects are the Vigilius Mountain Resort hotel in Lana, the Enoteca Pinchiorri restaurant in Florence, the Logica cookware line for TVS and the Aton lamps for Artemide. Thun has received numerous prizes and awards for his work. In 2014 he was awarded the Compasso d'Oro Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the field of Italian design. Thun is also involved in sustainable architecture projects and has collaborated with many companies to create environmentally friendly products. In 2018, he launched the Ocean's Promise project, which aims to reduce the use of single-use plastics in the hospitality industry.
